When to Sail :
November to April
South Coast Stretching out along a great arc of sun‑baked coastline from Galle in the West to Tissamaharama in the East, are some of the best Southern beaches including Jungle Beach, Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa and Tallala to name a few. Many of our guests choose to extend their sailing holiday with visits to the country’s finest national parks famous for elephants and leopards, to the tea plantations of Nuwara Eliya, or simply with a few more days of sunshine at any one of the chic, beach resorts. |
April to October
South Coast The East coast offers vast tracks of yet unexplored beaches, a laid‑back setting for travelers looking to step off the beaten path. The vibrant town of Trincomalee, with its appealing blend of colonial charm, colourful Hindu temples and beautiful coastal scenery is a place to visit. Sun lovers and snorkelers can enjoy the seaside villages of Uppuveli and Nilaveli, just down the coast lies the bay resort of Passikudah. Further south lies the surfing hotspot of Arugam Bay, also a convenient starting point to visit the national parks of Kumana and Yala. |
All Year Round
North Coast The north is a world away from the rest of the island and is in many respects Sri Lanka’s last frontier. Jaffna has a unique identity shaped by Portuguese, Dutch, British, Sinhalese and Muslim influences on its Tamil cultural history. The town offers colourful temples set next to huge churches and streets of old colonial charm. West of Jaffna, a string of largely uninhabited islands dissolve into the blue waters of the Jaffna lagoon and Palk Strait. Half the pleasure is simply reaching such a remote and little‑visited corner of Sri Lank |
